A special American rendering of Lessons and Carols.

Nine Scripture lessons that take us through salvation history starting with the first slaying to the arrival of the Prince of Peace, punctuated with responses from the writings of American Black poets and prophets, such as Albert Raboteau, Princeton professor emeritus of African-American religion; Pauli Murray, civil-rights and women’s-rights activist and the first African-American woman to become an Episcopal priest; and Martin Luther King. Live music from our musicians’ repertoire of carols, classics and spirituals round out this unique service for 2020.
