The bells of the Jefferies Chime will be rung at 12 noon and 6 PM today in commemoration of the 204th anniversary of Edwin Jefferies’ birth.  Edwin Jefferies was born on June 20, 1815, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  In 1870, he and his wife Elizabeth moved to Germantown and lived less than a block away from the church, at 139 West Tulpehocken Street.  Edwin Jefferies lived there until his death at age 83 on March 28, 1899 – the day before his wife’s 86th birthday.
